Mythes et légendes de la Grèce et de Rome antiques

E. M. Berens is a British author, educator, and classicist best known for popularizing classical mythology for general readers and students. Through meticulous research and engaging prose, Berens made the complex pantheons and epics of antiquity accessible to a broad Victorian and Edwardian audience.

Active during the late 19th and early 20th centuries, Berens dedicated much of her career to educational writing and the preservation of classical literature. Her works reflected the Victorian fascination with classical antiquity, serving as standard reference texts in schools and households across Great Britain. By structuring ancient myths into clear, narrative-driven volumes, Berens bridged the gap between academic scholarship and popular literature.
